About the Hub

The Cyber and Fraud Hub is Scotland's only charity that works closely with the banking industry, policing, and technology partners to support individuals who have fallen victim to online scams or fraud.

We also collaborate with partners to provide educational and preventive resources to help others avoid becoming victims to these types of crimes.

In the eventuality of a cyber or fraud attack we have internal and external skills, partnerships with relevant organisations and our incident response team who can help individuals to work their way through an attack with second to none victim support.

The Hub was established by the Cyber and Fraud Centre – Scotland in the summer of 2024, in response to the rising number of individuals falling victim to cyber related fraud. The Cyber and Fraud Centre is a social enterprise that aims to protect organisations across Scotland, and ensure they are as resilient as they can be against cyber and fraud crime.

While the Centre works with protecting and supporting organisations, there were still many individuals reaching out to resolve cyber and fraud related crimes they had experienced. This led to the creation of the Cyber and Fraud Hub, specifically to meet the increasing demand for individual focused support as cyber enabled fraud continues to escalate.

Cyber and Fraud Hub Charity – Charity no SCO53371

The purpose of the charity is to help individuals when and where they need additional support around financial fraud:

  • Fraud Triage: Set up immediate triage support with Police Scotland and financial institutions to ensure expert assistance in the immediate aftermath of a fraud incident.

  • Victim Support: Provide explanation around the crimes and what is happening. Treat the victims as victims and take away the stigma that many people feel around reporting these crimes.

  • Fund Recovery: When possible in the case of financial fraud, help the victim navigate the complex process of recovering stolen funds by working with banks and financial institutions.

We will also:

  • Provide proactive and preventative comms to make individuals aware of the scams that are out there.

  • Work with vulnerable groups to help protect themselves through helpful resources and informative events.

  • Work with our partners to help amplify the messaging around cyber security to enhance cyber resilience across Scotland.
